Regional sports hub developed on TUS Campus, Clonmel. Development incorporates a 400m IAAF standard athletics track, cycle skills-park, skatepark, adventure playground, facilities buildings, landscaping and parking on a 13 acre sloping site as part of the existing TUS campus. The scheme was designed to facilitate the existing TUS facilities remaining on site and to also allow for their future expansion.
The project was developed in close collaboration with Tipperary County Council, the local cycling, athletics and triathlon clubs and TUS and involved extensive consultation and Stakeholder Workshops at Design Stage and Part 8 Planning process. Ailtirí provided Lead Consultant services for a single point Integrated Design Team which provided a full range of Project Team Services for all stages of the project.
The project was funded under the URDF programme as part of a larger urban regeneration project in Clonmel. Located on an existing third level campus, the sports facility was developed on a sloping site and was integrated with the TUS buildings. Extensive walking and cycling paths are available to users, TUS staff and students and the wider community. The project successfully balances accessibility and security. The Sports Hub was officially opened in May 2023.
